Horace Maynard Middle School’s Agriculture Science programs introduce students to the exciting world of plant science, agricultural engineering, and environmental sustainability. Through hands-on, real-world learning, students explore everything from greenhouse management and landscaping to agricultural mechanics, power systems, and modern precision technologies used in today’s agriculture industry.
Our Ag Science pathways prepare students for high school success, industry certifications, and a wide range of career opportunities in Tennessee—from horticulture and greenhouse production to equipment repair, engineering, and environmental science. Beginning as early as 8th grade, students can earn high school credit while developing practical skills that translate directly into future careers or advanced training.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in FFA and 4-H, nationally recognized youth leadership organizations that builds confidence, teamwork, and career readiness through agricultural education.
Whether you enjoy working outdoors, building and repairing equipment, growing plants, or exploring how agriculture shapes our world, our Agriculture Science pathways offer something for every learner.
