At Horace Maynard Middle School, we are proud to lead the region in offering meaningful Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities to students as early as 7th grade. Our CTE program is designed to help students explore future careers, develop real-world skills, and build confidence as they begin preparing for high school and beyond.
Through hands-on learning in areas such as mechatronics, health science, and education, students gain practical experience while earning high school credit before they ever reach high school. In fact, more than half of our 8th graders earn at least one high school credit, and many leave middle school with two or more—giving them a powerful head start on their chosen pathways.
CTE at HMMS allows students to:
-
Discover their interests through career assessments
-
Explore introductory Level 1 CTE courses
-
Build critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills
-
Begin a pathway that can lead to certifications, dual credit, work-based learning, and postsecondary opportunities
Whether students plan to enter the workforce, pursue technical training, or continue their education after high school, CTE provides a strong foundation for future success. At HMMS, we believe early exploration creates lifelong opportunity—and we are committed to helping every student find the path that inspires them.
