The Mechatronics & Robotics Technology Pathway at Horace Maynard Middle School gives students an exciting, hands-on introduction to the advanced manufacturing and engineering fields shaping our world today. Students explore how electronics, robotics, mechanical systems, and computer-controlled machines work together—building real technical skills while solving real-world problems.
Beginning as early as 8th grade, students can earn high school credit and industry-recognized certifications, preparing them for success in high school, college, and the workforce. Through courses like Principles of Engineering, Robotics & Automated Systems, Digital Electronics, and Mechatronics I, students gain experience with tools, data collection, troubleshooting, and automated manufacturing systems.
Our pathway opens doors to high-demand careers across Tennessee—from production and industrial maintenance to electrical engineering and mechatronics. With growing employment opportunities statewide, students in this program develop the foundation they need for a strong future in STEM and advanced manufacturing.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in SkillsUSA, where they can build leadership, technical expertise, and career-ready skills through competitions and teamwork.
